FEATURING

QUARTETTO DI CREMONA
Cristiano Gualco, violin; Paolo Andreoli, violin; Simone Gramaglia, viola; Giovanni Scaglione, cello

“It’s a rare blend: breadth of sound and capriciousness combined with perfect tuning and ensemble has the players sounding absolutely of one voice… Nothing less than life-affirming.”
– Gramophone

Their program will include two of the most beloved works in the string quartet literature: Debussy’s luminous String Quartet and Beethoven’s towering Quartet in A minor, Op. 132, his musical chronicle of suffering and recovery from a life-threatening illness. Its radiant central movement, entitled  A Convalescent’s Holy Song of Thanksgiving in the Lydian Mode, is one of the most spiritually transcendent pieces ever written.
